Age of AI

In the age of AI video, it is scary to see how AI has gradually advanced over time. There were some aspects of AI that I did not know. I know my generation has been known to be the most “tech sav” generation. Which is and can be true to some extent. AI is different, AI has been growing over the past few years and is new to everyone. Websites like ChatGPT and Google Gemini are these new websites people are using for many different reasons like homework, random questions, and for research. So, like this is new to you, it is also new to me and everyone else so these new and interesting facts can be very shocking.

A portion of the video was talking about self-driving Mack-trucks. They believe there will be self-driving trucks within the next half-decade. The idea comes up to help the roads be safer from humans since these AI trucks will be so advanced. Although stated in the videos truckers don't make that much money annually because they need to pay for gas and repairs.

Every company is looking to have fewer employees and have AI and robots for all the work. This is to keep an efficient workplace and to save money for the company. In this time the rich and getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, while this cannot be directly correlated with AI, artificial intelligence is only making it worse.

While reading the article about AI stats, I learned that already in 2024, 14% of people have already lost their jobs due to AI. Some businesses foresee computers replacing all human tasks within 50 years.

This all scares me because the technology is getting too advanced. Peoples' jobs are getting ripped away from them slowly and I believe this is not right. People are losing their jobs to robots and are getting stuck in the mud with nothing to do. This also scares me because we are paying so much for a great education and a college degree, who knows if the jobs we want will even be available in the future because of AI. No one knows what the future holds when it comes to AI, this uncertainty is what scares me the most.

ANIT-WAR.COM

I really enjoyed the first amendment timeline. If I am being honest, I'm not much of a history buff and have never known much of the history of the United States especially the law backgroundThis class has been interesting to learn about the history of the United States and what happened vs random facts you see online.

The thing that shocked me about the whole timeline was the Espionage act. The fact that the espionage act had criticizing the government to be a crime is crazy to me. People were not allowed to be against the war and would go to jail if you were against it or wrote bad things about it. The government even found a way around this and made a law of “incitement. “Incitement” is speech that causes violence or lawless action.

The fact that you could not voice your opinions simply because they were negative towards the war seems unnecessary and unfair when you compare it to today. Today's world is so much different, free speech goes to so many lengths, basically anyone can say anything. Today would be so different if these laws were still in place.

While looking at ANTIWAR.com you can see the website's views strongly and start to understand why you never hear any of this in mainstream news. Websites like ANTIWAR.com and The American Conservative will be less visible in mainstream media because their opinions are very strong and not everyone agrees with them. Mainstream media tends to align with dominant political forces, with this the mainstream media is usually connected to huge corporations and the government which both usually tend to have “pro-military choices”.

It is hard for these websites to get some heavy media where it will be shown for a bunch of people. I think with technology it is easy to find strong anti-war voices with platforms like google. On the other hand, if you’re looking for strong anti-war voices through larger news platforms like big television news and newspapers, I would argue that it could be extremely tough, and this is why people need to resort to smaller platforms.
